Week of 07.25.10

1. Inception: A++

I don't even know where to begin on this movie review? Best movie ever-I fuckin loved it! Finally a movie that is intelligently written and very well acted! I loved almost every scene! If I could say anything negative about it, it would be that it did run a little long and was kind of slow getting to the end of the movie. I also didn't like how they rushed Ellen Page's character's relationship with Leonardo Dicaprio's character...what I mean is why did she care about what was happening to him with his wife so much? He was a stranger too her really-just someone who hired her for a job. I don't think she would be so sympathetic to him so quickly in real life. In any case the movie was amazing. I really enjoyed it! It is a MUST to go see!

2. Salt: B

The movie gets a B automatically just because it has my girl Angelia Jolie in it. Overall the action scenes were awesome, but I would have preferred more of them. Also the storyline was very predictable. Overall it's a good popcorn movie to go see...just don't expect an overly realistic great movie!

Week of 07.22.10

I have seen three movies this week so far and here are my reviews...

1. Grown Ups: B-

I did't really want to see this movie initially, but ended up seeing it this past weekend out of necessity. I am happy to say it was a lot better then I thought it was going to be! Overall it was really funny and had some great jokes! The storyline and jokes were a little unoriginal, but that is to be expected in a family comedy. The only complaints I have about the movie is that the pacing was a little slow throughout and the movie was a little too long. If you are in the mood for something light hearted this is the film for you.

2. Despicable Me: A

Despicable Me was fantastic! I can't really explain why I loved it so much, but it was just adorable! Great humor and originality! I loved the quirky feel to the whole movie. The three little girls were adorable and hilarious...and of course the talking Twinkies/bananas absolutely made the movie! This movie is great for the whole family or just a fun easy going date night!

3. The Sorcerer's Apprentice: B+  possibly an A-

I actually really liked the movie. I am a sucker for anything wizard, witch, vampire, or werewolf related though...that is my genre. I loved the feel to the movie as far as the actual wizard stuff. There were definitely some cheesy parts though and I hated the "love" story! Why does every movie have to have a stupid love story in it? Seriously can't I just watch a comedy for the comedy? The love story was too familiar and a cliche after seeing She's Out of My League. Apparently that is the only storyline going for Jay Baruchel . He's dorky and nerdy and some how always ends up with the hot blond. Yeah right! Not happening boys-sorry to crush all your hopes and dreams with that one, but that is the truth! The movie had a lot of potential, but it could have been better. I think they should have made it rated R and focused on more special effects and wizard fighting scenes...make it a little more raw-know what I mean!
